Talon is proud to still be run as a family business, reflecting the values driven by George and Veronica Sartin back in the early years. In 2006, after 34 productive years, George handed the reins to his son Robert Sartin. Rob, in his youth, was a talented off-road athlete, becoming a British Enduro champion several times over. In conjunction with his competitive racing, Rob went on to study as an engineer and came into the family business with both technical expertise and the unique experience and insight of a competitive rider. Rob sold the business to Rod McDonagh and Steve Bones of Spirit Motorcycles in 2021. Spirit’s background in road racing design and fabrication and its expertise in MotoGP broadens the depth and width of the expertise available to Talon as it consolidates its current product line-up with new components planned for release in the weeks ahead.
Now established for over 47 years, and working out of 35,000sq ft of production, office and warehouse space, the new owners, are taking the business forward, developing the Talon brand and introducing superior race quality and competition products that have earnt Talon its place in the off-road, road race and competition environments as well as a reputation that is second to none. Based in Yeovil, a Somerset Market Town, we design and produce all our hubs, expertly milled, from single billet, aircraft grade alloy, produced to the exacting standard of trusted race quality products.
Known predominantly for the quality of our hub range and expertly laced wheels, we also manufacture our own design of alloy and steel off/on-road sprockets. Each sprocket is precision engineered to maintain standards of flatness, concentricity and tolerance.
The Talon brand has grown from humble beginnings, directly attributed to the knowledge, expertise and dedication from the team behind the brand. We are proud suppliers to many race teams, both in the UK and overseas, who trust and believe in the quality and safety of a Talon hub and Excel rim combination. We supply to the USA, Australia and many countries in-between. Contact details for our distributors can be found on the distributor page, or directly with Talon.
Talon is currently investing in state-of-the-art automated milling and turning machinery as it introduces new products and capacity to its Somerset factory. We are always looking for skilled and passionate people to come and work with us, so please contact us if a role at Talon would be of interest. Talon import a range of complimentary products and are the UK importer for the Japanese Excel rim, the popular Italian Braking System “Braking Power under Control” and are a RK Chain stockist.
